X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST writer Simon Kinberg answered fan questions for Yahoo! UK recently (watch video). Using #AskKinberg, one question asks why Anna Paquin’s Rogue was cut from the film. Kinberg explains…
“It’s not for any reason other than we had a lot of story to tell,” he says. “Anna was fantastic in the movie – Rogue’s one of my favorites characters – and I really liked the sub-plot that we shot with her. But in a movie that had a ton of plots and a ton of characters to service, the Rogue plot – as you will probably eventually see – was sort of a deviation from the main story of the movie.”
“As much as we all loved it, when we saw it…anything that takes you away from the main spine, the main story of the film, we had to cut. And it wasn’t just Rogue’s story, there were other scenes and moments we loved but they weren’t servicing the main story well enough. So if it’s anybody fault, it is mine because I shouldn’t have written it that way. I should have integrated her into the main story and I learned my lesson the hard way.”

You’re just horrible at writing a great role for the actual X-Men, Simon. Stop fooling us, you dont give a damm about Rogue, and this movie just proved it.
Tired of u and your interviews, it gets disgusting. Ready for the reboot with a different director and writer, this version is a dissapointment. (as much as I love the cast)

The 7 X films are the best there is at superhero films, and I do not give a damn about how different they are from the Comics.
You want Goofy Comic Action? Go watch Marvel Cinematic Universe instead, and leave the X films alone. You don’t find us X movie fans trolling around on MCU film sites.
Eh to be honest, as much as I love the film, it still disappoint sme that Rogue was reduced to like a 3 second cameo. They had a lot of time to review and fix the script. They should have cut IT before they filmed the scene.
Rogue could have been with Iceman/Kitty/Colossus and those other mutants at the beginning of the film OR she could have been with Wolverine/Storm/ProfX at the beginning OR if Anna was that busy, why couldn’t they just replace the unnamedmutant we saw at the start of the film before the animation sequence with Rogue.
7 seconds. I counted it. It was the best scene of all.
Dont forget Jean Grey and Scott had lots of screening time than Rogue! which pissed me off.
I think I’ am the only one who got devastated and wrecked about that announcement. I did cursed Kinberg for what he did to Rogue and almost kill him with my tweets but past is past. They can only fix it by making the extended edition and surprise us with the new Rogue that we want in XDOFP.
