20th Century Fox and Darren Aronofsky announced today that he will not be directing the Hugh Jackman-starring THE WOLVERINE as planned. In a released statement Aronofsky said…
“As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of ‘The Wolverine’ would keep me out of the country for almost a year. I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won’t be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again.”
20th Century Fox followed up saying “While we are of course disappointed that Darren can’t do ‘The Wolverine’, we also understand and respect his reasons. Having done both ‘The Wrestler’ and ‘Black Swan’ with Darren, we know he is an extraordinary talent and we look forward to working with him on other projects in the future. Hugh Jackman and Fox both remain fully committed to making ‘The Wolverine’. We will regroup and move forward aggressively.”
Darn…
Noooooooooo….
It isn’t April the 1st, is it?
This cannot be. I was looking forward to get a comic book movie in the class of an art film. Damn.
Sad, really sad news.
Question is… who will take over from here. Shotting was scheduled to begin in two weeks as far as I know. Jackman is in perfect shape, preproduction done, locations have been spotted… Damn.
I hope the film won’t be cancelled completely.
This reminds me when Matthew Vaughn left because of family or something along those lines. It seems like they would already know this way in advance. I’m sure there’s another reason for him leaving that we’ll never know of.
I think so, too.
I just hope they will find someone to take over… Jackman is ready and casting calls are out for Japanese actors (despite the terrific tragedy that happened in Japan, it seems FOX is aiming to shoot the film on location).
I was really looking forward to this film. What a shame.
It would have been too good to be true, to have an art film director like Aronofsky helm a project like THE WOLVERINE.
This really is a shame 🙁
Hopefully Fox can pull a cat out the bag and replace Aronfnsky with someone decent!!
Can only hope they don’t go down the ‘Brett Ratner’ route again…
I am not sorry to see him go. I have seen his other movies and he is over-rated to say the least. Still I suspect that they will announce a replacement director very shortly. I also do not think it very likely that they will make this movie at all in Japan.
WHY???!?!
Please be still good@@
don,t worry guys there will be another one who can made the movie of wolvie2 u,l c have faith in ur self he will come sooner or later u,l c
