Producers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker tell New York Daily News that the X-MEN and FANTASTIC FOUR worlds exist in parallel universes. “The Fantastic Four live in a world without mutants and the X-Men live in a world without the Fantastic Four,” they said in a joint e-mail. But that doesn’t close off the idea for potential crossovers. “Crossing them over would be challenging, but we sure would love to see all those actors together, the way we had them on stage at (San Diego) Comic Con.”
X-Men director Bryan Singer previously said that “time” would be a factor in the two worlds crossing over. “Those ideas are in play. That would be a natural match-up because they’re both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it.”
In case you’re wondering if this is a last ditch effort by Fox to get out of a cinematic universe due to FF’s low critical reception, it’s not. These details were actually leaked a while back, with the original plan having Dr. Doom mention traveling to a parallel Earth where mutants exist. Whether or not that’s in the final cut of the film, I have no clue as I haven’t seen it…yet.
I have seen the film and I do not think it was that bad as many critics claimed it to be. As of the moment it is the worst reviewed Marvel film with 9% approval at Rotten Tomatoes! surpassing Elektra’s 10%.
I just feel bad for the cast and as much I like them I don’t know if Fox is willing to do another movie with them or a cross-over film with the X-Men.
And 1 person that I blame for this is SIMON KINBERG! How can you go from a critical acclaimed like Days of Future Past then give us the worst reviewed Marvel film! Embarrassing! Just fire this Simon Kinberg! He let us down with The Last Stand and now gave me the most disappointing film of all time which is the FANTASTIC FOUR! There are a lot of writers that are more talented than him.
Nope… Not a good idea. İf there is a crossover, it should be in the same universe, and with a new FF. I don’t want this FF defile the (our) X-universe. I don’t understand why these writers can not think as a fan…
I think they’re trying to inject their originality into the project, and that’s fine sometimes, but they should ultimately respect the source material at the end of the day.
The fantastic four reboot script had been through many re-writes since 2009, that coupled with the director’s inexperience with handling such a big production equalled catastrophe. The best thing fox can do at this point would be to trade marvel the rights of f4 for x men merchandise and tv rights, imo.
X-Men merchandise rights would be gold mine.
Rumour has it that Fox screwed up and kept changing stuffs in the script (Kinberg wrote the reshoot scenes) which Trank wasnt happy about. Plus so many scenes that were shot wasnt even in the film. Fox screwed up the film! And rumour has it thar they edited so much without Trank’s approval.
Well if rumors are true trank also was behaving ridiculous like showing up drunk, trashing the set etc. All very unprofessional if true. We’ve never had rumours of bryan behaving that way while filming have we?
I believe those rumors to an extent. They might be dramatized though, who knows. Only bad thing I ever heard about Bryan was during X2 when he had terrible back pain. Nowhere near destructive though.
IT IS A GOOD IDEN TO HAVE XMAN FANTASTIC Four
