Photos: James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender reunite on DARK PHOENIX set for a game of chess.

DARK PHOENIX stars James McAvoy (wearing a bald cap) and Michael Fassbender were spotted on the Montreal set Friday, where they filmed new scenes for Simon Kinberg’s directorial debut. Fassbender’s Magneto was spotted carrying a mobile chess set to McAvoy’s Professor Xavier.

The game of chess is no stranger to the mutant film franchise, as both characters have been shown playing it multiple times while conversing about real world politics since the very first X-MEN in 2000.

We can confirm that this is a brand new scene being added to the film’s original edit, which recently underwent pickups/reshoots for 2 1/2 weeks.
