THE NEW MUTANTS star Anya Taylor-Joy spoke briefly with Variety about her character Illyana Rasputin (aka Magik) in director Josh Boone’s upcoming film based in the X-Men universe.
“My character is a badass bitch from hell,” she says enthusiastically. “I love her and she’s crazy and really agro and Russian and just sassy. You’re not gonna be bored when watching Illyana.”
When asked if she would categorize the film as a full-fledged horror film, she says “It’s tricky, I haven’t seen the final cut of it but I know that the energy when we were making it was definitely different to what people have seen before.”
The New Mutants is currently scheduled for release on August 2, 2019 and is looking to be the final X-Men film produced under 20th Century Fox before the Disney acquisition completes later this year.
Thanks Martin!
