Dr. Reyes is here to cure you. The official social media accounts for THE NEW MUTANTS have posted a new photo of actress Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a mysterious character who’s apparently trying to “help” the young mutants learn about their extraordinary abilities and keep them in check from hurting others.

In the comics, Cecilia is a mutant with the ability to create force fields around her body that protect her from attacks. In the film’s second trailer, we see Dani Moonstar (Blu Hunt) unable to escape the hospital facilities due to a radiating fields of energy. The effect looks quite similar to Cecilia’s powers in the comics, so we’ll have to wait and see if that’s definitely the case or if there’s something even more nefarious at hand; the first trailer showed her face really scratched up.

The New Mutants arrives in theaters on April 3, 2020.
