The Wolverine on Disney+
Director James Mangold’s THE WOLVERINE is now available to stream on Disney Plus! The 2013 film follows Logan (Hugh Jackman) out of his depth in Japan as he faces unexpected and deadly foes in a life or death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.
The New Mutants
Our official grade for director Josh Boone’s THE NEW MUTANTS is a B-. While the film doesn’t offer much in terms of horror, it’s entire young adult cast shines in their roles. Blu Hunt’s Dani Moonstar and Maisie Williams’ Rahne Sinclair are the standouts, along with Anya Taylor-Joy’s Illyana Rasputin. Boone said he wanted to make a scary movie for teens and he succeeded in this aspect. Although light on scares, the film carries a dramatic, fun, thriller tone throughout.
In other The New Mutants news, Disney confirms that the 20th Century Studios film will add more than 340+ theaters this weekend totaling 2,750 domestic screens, according to Box Office Pro. Estimates have the film dropping around -40% in its 2nd weekend at around $3.9 million over the Labor Day weekend. We’ll update you in a separate post with official numbers on Sunday or Monday.

Deadpool 3
In a Entertainment Weekly blurb, the magazines states that: a studio source told EW there weren’t any current plans for any of the X-Men movies before the pandemic hit. A studio summit held early in 2020 — a preview of sorts with a presentation by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige — didn’t even have Deadpool 3 on the official docket. In an e-mail, star Ryan Reynolds said: “I agree with Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola that Marvel films suffer from an alarming lack of Deadpool.”
Rest in Peace
Beloved Cyclops voice actor, Norm Spencer has passed. Spencer voiced Scott Summers in the classic 90’s animated X-MEN series, which ran on Fox from 1992 to 1997; he was 62 years old. Rest in Peace.
