Marvel Studios is headed to Comic Con International this year in San Diego, confirms president Kevin Feige! The announcement was made during a virtual ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ press conference. This is a win for Comic Con, as the event had to shutter its convention doors during the height of the pandemic. Having the comic book movie juggernaut there will surely get it back to where it was before.
Specifics weren’t given; there’s a slew of projects the pipeline that could get showcased. ‘Wakanda Forever’, ‘Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, ‘Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, ‘The Marvels’, and ‘Fantastic Four’, to name a few.
With all that going on, many X-Men fans wonder if Feige will give an update on mutants arriving to the MCU proper. We’ve already met Professor X (Patrick Stewart) from universe 838 in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, but another Charles is out there, right? When and how the next stage of human evolution makes its grand entrance is anyone’s guess. We’ve all got questions, and hopefully Feige can answer or two in Hall H.
Next year will see the release of Disney+’s X-MEN ’97 animated revival, so a first look at that would be fantastic. That said, Disney+ Day is in September, and a major reveal would more likely take place at that event. What else? Well, there’s DEADPOOL 3, which has been making headlines via comments from co-writer Rhett Reese. We all know the film is going to happen, so announcing an official release date (with maybe Reynolds on stage) could be a nice moment. Filming on that is expected to start early next year.
Comic Con runs from July 21-24.
