Shocking news to report as Beau DeMayo, executive producer, showrunner, and head writer of X-Men ’97, has parted ways with Marvel. DeMayo previously worked on the Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight series, and early drafts of their in-development Blade reboot.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, DeMayo had completed writing duties on season two of X-Men ’97, was lining up press, and making plans to attend the show’s Hollywood premiere on March 13. He was even discussing loose ideas for a third season with members of his team.
But something led to his firing. His company e-mail was deleted, and he removed his Twitter/X and Instagram social media accounts, where he posted work-related updates along with a steady stream of shirtless photos; he also ran what’s described as a “non-explicit” Only Fans page. Representatives for DeMayo and Marvel have not commented on the situation (for now).
DeMayo was originally hired in 2021 to bring the popular animated series back to life after a great pitch to Kevin Feige and executives.
X-Men ’97 arrives March 20 on Disney+ with a 2-episode premiere.
