DARK PHOENIX Original Ending By Toto Cinema (Fan Edit)

The theatrical version of Dark Phoenix varies vastly from the film’s original cut, which had a completely different third act and a number of scenes that ended up on the cutting room floor. A skilled fan – Toto Cinema – took the time to recreate how the original third act of Simon Kinberg’s debut film might’ve looked like, using existing footage and concept art with original VFX and edits.

Originally, Professor X and Cyclops went to the United Nations to confront Jean and fight against aliens, while the X-Men and Magneto are imprisoned. Jean senses an impending invasion in the cosmos, and flies up there to destroy a fleet of alien spacecraft. This leads to her “sacrificing herself,” fully embracing the Phoenix identity.

“I was always frustrated that the ending of X-Men: Dark Phoenix was changed because Disney bought 20th Century Fox,” Toto writes. “So, thanks to @DarkPhoenix_UN-Cut research, I tried to recreate the ending of the film as it was originally supposed to be. I used behind the scenes photo for Jean Grey’s footage, and then Blender and After Effects for the VFX. I hope it works!”

It worked well!
