Celebrating X-Men Films And Beyond

Updated: X-Men has ‘First Class’ sales on Blu-Ray and DVD.

Updated with numbers…makes $30 million in first 3 days of release!

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS was a huge success on Blu-Ray and DVD, taking the #1 spot on sales charts for its first week ending September 11th! The mutant-powered “X-Men” prequel directed by Matthew Vaughn lived up to its “First Class” title, selling $10 million on DVD and $19 million on Blu-Ray. 60% of its total package unit sales were in the Blu-Ray format. Its competition “Hanna” was no match, with the film selling 5 to 1 Blu-Ray’s and 4 to 1 DVD’s.

In its second week, THOR bested FIRST CLASS, dropping the film to #2 on the charts.

Digital downloads are doing great as well, debuting at #1 on iTunes for both movie rentals and full purchases.

This ultimately equals success for 20th Century Fox, who released the film in theaters in June. The critically-praised film brought in a respectable $146 million in domestic box office, with worldwide numbers edging toward $353 million.

Internal discussions are underway for a potential sequel.
