Marvel Studios’ Andy Park (Director of Visual Development) has shared a few Deadpool & Wolverine concept artworks showing three Wolverine variants; one which didn’t make the cut!
X-Baby Wolverine
“This is not in the film, but how fun would it have been to see this Mojo X-Baby come to life?” writes Park. “I was huge fan of what Chris Claremont & Arthur Adams did in those Uncanny X-Men annuals!”
Old Man Logan
“I imagined him just coming back from some massive battle and he’s taking a breather on his porch with a beer and then gets interrupted by some guy in a red suit (💀💩L). As a concept artist that is essentially telling a story through design I don’t always want to just illustrate a guy standing there in some smokey background 😂 Telling a story through the image is more powerful.. & fun!”
Brow/Tan Costume
“I got to design the classic brown & tan (John Byrne) costume you saw in the multiverse hoping scene,” he writes. “This was actually the costume I loved the most during my adolescent years so to do the live-action version for this film was a dream come true!”
A collection of concept artworks will feature in the upcoming The Art of Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine book, which releases on October 29, 2024.
