Hugh Jackman on The Wolverine and X-Men 4.

Hugh Jackman recently opened up about his upcoming X-Men film THE WOLVERINE during a press conference for REAL STEEL (via The Playlist). The film, which follows Wolverine as he treks Japan, has hit many road blocks after the departure of original director Darren Aronofsky.

Jackman says things with new director James Mangold are ready to go. He just has to film LES MISERABLES before tackling the mutant picture:

“If it wasn’t for ‘Les Mis,’ we’re ready now. “Now that Jim [Mangold]’s on board, we’re ready to go. For ‘Les Mis’ to work, we would have had to start “Wolverine,” basically, yesterday. So when we needed to press the button, we weren’t quite ready. So it will happen straight after.”

Jackman on the hiring of Mark Momback to rewrite the original script by Christopher McQuarrie:

“When a director takes over any script, they need to make it their movie. So Jim hired Mark to help him make the movie his own. Darren had worked on the script himself and taken it in a certain direction that was right for him. And that would have been a great version of the movie. I’ve seen Jim’s version now and, you know, Jim saw things that weren’t working for him that were working for Darren. And I’ve got to hand it to Fox and to Jim, it’s easy when you start with the best script we’ve had from Chris McQuarrie. Which is why Darren signed on. So once you have that, that’s 80, 85 percent of your movie.”

Jackman on the difference between his film and the origina Japanese comic saga:

“It’s a little darker and, I think, a little more true to the character. If you read all of [the Japanese saga] there is a lot of it that is a little disparate and some of it’s got X-Men in it. There’s a wedding and all that. So we take license with that.”

Jackman on Wolverine returning for a possible X-MEN 4:

“I don’t see it. I can only see one movie ahead. I’m pretty sure I’m well into the second half of this match. I don’t know exactly when the end is, but I only go one at a time. If this is the last one, fingers crossed, man, I just hope we finally get that hole in one.”

Yep….I’m pissed. First Lauren Shuler-Donner, now Hugh….atleast James Marsden is still interested.

Guys guys guy guys please you both need to understand the biger picture here Mrs Lauren schulder donner is the producer and Hugh and James they are the Actors so i said let the producers begging theyre thoughts coz there are so much to plan to do for exemple the plans, the drawings of the projects and the vissual Efect so its going to be trough enough and a lot the time so be pations please with this ppl please guys

Ok now says that Hugh is in the movie of both movies first is Les miserables and then the wolverine for the next year not this year for the next one. I said not bad for him

Great news… I hope they will at least make 2 more WOLVERINE films.

I do not know why everyone here wants an X4. FIRST CLASS will be the ensemble series from now on… And IF they made an X4, again noone would be happy since expectations have risen so high… remember what happened with much anticipated films like STAR WARS EPISODE I or INDIANA JONES 4… they were not bad movies, but people expectation relevations of some kind and were disappointed.

Cannot wait for THE WOLVERINE.

I’m tired of Wolverine Films. Where’s X-men 4?? I want to see the other characters not just Wolverine..

I’m sure Hugh will do an X-Men 4, because Lauren Donner wants to do it, and we already know that Byran Singer has written a story for it. ‘

But right now just one movie at a tim e.

I’m sure if the money is there…. X-men 4 will be made regardless.

Nevertheless, I honestly don’t think they have any major plans to continue that part of the franchise just yet. Despite fans wanting X4, First Class was a surprise hit this year and surpassed both fans and critics expectations as well as making a decent little profit. A sequel to First Class seems inevitable to me, as does Wolverine and by the sounds of it Deadpool too.

Three X-films is better than nothing though 🙂

will c Rob will see let,s not go to much forward on this i prefer the plans of Mrs Lauren Schulder donner coz Hugh and James is the actors and Mrs Schulder is the producer so now with all do respect here i ,ll do she says mrs Schulder donner thank you
