Fan FiX – WHITE HOT ERA (PART 3 OF 3)

1998. Scott’s heart skips a beat as the name echoes in the air. “Jean?” he stammers, unable to come to terms with the thought. “You’re saying our Jean is behind this?”

“Not your Jean,” Guardian corrects with a heavy tone. “But an echo of her. A being created when she merged with the Phoenix Force in another universe—a version of her that gave in fully to its hunger, its madness.”

“She’s become… a destroyer,” Ororo whispers, her voice tinged with concern.

“She isn’t Jean anymore,” Guardian says gravely. “She is an embodiment of cosmic annihilation. And she’s coming.”

The team can feel the power they have gained from their trials humming within them.

Their new abilities begin to manifest…

Scott’s vision sharpens beyond the physical, enabling him to see threads of potential futures with every decision he makes. His leadership now extends to navigating not just the present, but the ripples of time.

Ororo’s control over the elements expands, allowing her to manipulate cosmic weather. She can now summon solar winds, manipulate gravitational fields, and channel energies that connect her to the very fabric of space.

Betsy’s telepathy deepens to include the ability to bridge minds across dimensions. She can communicate instantly with her team, no matter where they are in the multiverse, and create psychic sanctuaries to shield them from harm.

Kurt’s teleportation evolves, granting him the ability to step between realities. He can now traverse dimensions, bringing others with him, but only for short bursts until he masters this newfound gift.

Cecilia’s force fields expand to affect life itself. She can now generate zones of cellular regeneration, accelerating healing for others, or neutralize threats by suspending them in stasis.

Peter’s speed transcends physical limits, enabling him to phase through dimensions and even slow or speed up time in localized areas, giving his team an edge in battles across realities.

Hank’s intellect takes on a new dimension, allowing him to perceive the underlying equations of the multiverse. He can analyze and manipulate the fundamental laws of physics and reality to solve problems that once seemed insurmountable.

As they absorb these changes, Guardian’s voice echoes in their minds. “You have taken your first step toward becoming champions of the multiverse. Your battles will only grow more complex, the enemies more fearsome. But together, you are a force that can restore balance to all existence. Remember: unity is your greatest strength.”

The air grows heavy, the temperature plummeting. A faint golden light appears in the distance, growing brighter by the second.

“She’s here,” Guardian says grimly.

The team barely has time to prepare as the air around them distorts. In a blinding flash of light, Jean appears, radiating power that feels infinite. Her form is a somewhat-familiar reflection of the Jean they know.

“Children of the multiverse,” she says, her voice resonating like an orchestra of galaxies collapsing, “you cannot stop me. Give me the beacons, or be consumed.”

Scott steps forward, clenching his fists. “Jean, if there’s still a part of you in there—stop this. You don’t have to do this.”

Jean laughs, the sound sending shivers through the team. “Scott… the part of me you knew is gone. I am beyond your comprehension now. Your love, your hope—they mean nothing to me.”

Without warning, she raises a hand, unleashing a wave of energy that sends the team sprawling. Ororo summons a barrier of wind and lightning, barely holding back the onslaught.

“Formation!” Scott shouts. “We fight together!”

The team springs into action. Ororo summons a storm, her winds laced with electrified rain. She channels the power of nature itself, sending torrents of lightning at Jean. The blasts strike her directly, but she absorbs them effortlessly, her fiery aura only growing brighter.

“You cannot harm me with your primitive elements,” Jean taunts.

Betsy focuses her psychic energy, creating a massive psionic blade. She leaps toward Jean, slashing at her psyche with precision and strength. She glimpses into the minds of various Jeans across the multiverse, all which share one constant – the all-powerful cosmic force. The blade clashes against Jean’s energy field, causing a shockwave that knocks both of them back.

Cecilia charges in, her skin glowing with energy as she activates her force-field powers. She creates a bubble around Jean, attempting to contain her. “Got her!” Cecilia shouts.

But Jean smirks, her body igniting with a burst of cosmic fire that shatters the force field. Cecilia is thrown to the ground, coughing as her energy fades. She is bleeding from a wound, but is now able to utilize her powers to promote cellular regeneration, healing herself in a matter of seconds.

“Your resilience is admirable,” Jean says, “but it will not save you.”

Scott fires a powerful optic blast, aiming directly at Jean’s core. The beam collides with her, but she deflects it with a flick of her wrist, sending it careening towards Kurt, who teleports away from the blast.

Jean raises her arms, drawing energy from the surrounding environment. The sky darkens, and the ground trembles. “I am life perfected. You are ants beneath my feet.”

Ororo steps forward, her eyes glowing white. “Then feel the wrath of nature’s fury!” She raises her hands, summoning a hurricane that engulfs Jean. The winds tear at her fiery form, but she remains unyielding, her power cutting through the storm like a blade.

Guardian steps in, her energy wings glowing. “Your power is immense, Jean, but it is not infinite. Together, we will stop you!”

The team coordinates their attacks, their powers intertwining. Betsy channels her psychic energy to disrupt Jean’s mental defenses, while Ororo and Hank strike with elemental and physical force. Scott leads the charge, his optic blasts pushing Jean back inch by inch.

But Jean retaliates, her energy becoming more chaotic. She creates fiery constructs of herself, each one attacking with precision and ferocity. The team finds themselves overwhelmed, struggling to keep up.

Guardian shouts, “Her power is tied to the beacons! We need to sever her connection to them!”

“How?!” Scott yells, dodging a fiery construct.

“Trust me,” Guardian says. She flies upward, her energy wings blazing. “Keep her distracted!”

The team fights with renewed determination, their attacks becoming more coordinated. Cecilia uses her force fields to protect her teammates, while Ororo’s lightning and Kurt’s perfectly-timed use of his teleportation strikes in unison. Scott uses his new powers to glimpse into various future outcomes, ultimately unleashing his full power to create a wall of energy that momentarily forces Jean to retreat.

Above them, Guardian channels her energy into the sky, searching for the beacons’ frequencies. Jean notices and roars in anger. “You dare defy me?”

She summons a massive wave of cosmic fire, aiming it at Guardian. Scott leaps in the way, firing an optic blast to intercept the attack. The explosion sends him tumbling, but Guardian remains unharmed.

“I’ve found it!” Guardian shouts. She focuses her energy, creating a beam of light that pierces the heavens. The connection between Jean and the beacons begins to waver.

Jean screams, her power fluctuating. “No!” I will not be und

The team presses the advantage, attacking with everything they have. Ororo summons a lightning bolt the size of a skyscraper, striking Jean directly. Peter races around her, creating ripples in time that weaken and disorient her.

Finally, Guardian’s energy beam severs the connection. Jean collapses to her knees, her fiery aura dimming.

“It’s over,” Scott says, stepping forward cautiously.

But Jean looks up, her eyes still blazing. “You think this is the end? I always rise.” With a final burst of energy, she vanishes, leaving the team battered but alive.

The sky clears, and the ground stops shaking. The team stands together, breathing heavily.

Guardian lands beside them, her expression somber. “We’ve won the battle, but not the war. She will return.”

Scott looks at his team, their resolve unshaken. “Then we’ll be ready.”

With their mission on the moon complete, the team boards their jet, the sleek craft gliding through space as they head home. The journey back to Earth is quieter, each member reflecting on the trials they faced and the truths they uncovered about themselves.

Back at the mansion, they debrief, sharing their experiences and new powers. The weight of their responsibility feels heavier now, but so does their bond. They know their lives will never be the same.

In the days that follow, they prepare for what’s to come. Hank delves into research on the artifact and its connection to the multiverse, while Cecilia works with NASA to develop strategies for monitoring dimensional anomalies. Scott begins training the team to use their new abilities in unison, knowing their coordination will be the key to their success.

But even as they ready themselves, a subtle unease lingers. The multiverse is vast, and the enemies they will face remain unknown. For now, the team is stronger than ever, but the shadow of the trials ahead looms over them.

In the quiet of the mansion, Ororo stands at a window, looking out at the night sky. She feels the cosmic energies within her, a reminder of the storm that now exists on an interstellar scale. Scott joins her, his newly attuned vision scanning the threads of possibility that stretch before them.

“Do you think we’re ready?” Ororo asks, her voice soft but steady.

Scott places a hand on her shoulder, his gaze unwavering. “We have to be. For our world and every world that depends on us.”

As the stars shimmer above, a faint ripple disturbs the night. The team looks up, sensing the disturbance in the fabric of reality. The next chapter of their journey is already beginning, and this time, the fate of the multiverse depends on their unity, courage, and strength.

They are no longer just Earth’s heroes. They are champions of the infinite, defenders of the multiverse. And their story is far from over.
