A new report suggests that longtime Marvel Studios producer Stephen Broussard will take the reins on the highly anticipated X-Men film, set to be directed by Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts). The news comes from scooper @DanielRPK, who shared that Broussard will serve as producer on the project, which is a move that may signal the tone and direction Marvel intends to take with their first mutant-centric film in the MCU.

Broussard’s history with Marvel Studios stretches back to the early days of the MCU. His credits include: Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man 3, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and The Wasp, Werewolf By Night, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, Loki, and Echo.

That list shows the range of storytelling Broussard has been involved with, from the grounded patriotism of The First Avenger to the cosmic chaos of Quantumania, and even the darker supernatural tone of Werewolf By Night.

If this report holds true, Broussard’s involvement could be a strong indicator of how Marvel wants to position the X-Men within the MCU. His recent work, particularly Loki and Werewolf By Night, has leaned into more experimental story telling.

Marvel Studios has been careful about how and when to introduce mutants into the MCU. We’ve seen some so far, but the full arrival of the X-Men has been one of the studio’s most anticipated moves since regaining the film rights.

If Broussard is indeed producing, it suggests Marvel is aiming for a blend of classic Marvel energy with new creative risks. Given his experience bridging early MCU phases with the multiverse saga, he might be the right person to help anchor this next era of storytelling, and one that could redefine the future of Marvel’s cinematic universe.
