Marvel Animation officially premiered episodes of X-Men ’97 Season 2 at the Tribeca Festival this weekend, giving a first look at the next chapter in the Emmy-nominated animated series. Following the shocking Season 1 finale, attendees were treated to the highly anticipated continuation, along with a special panel featuring Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, and executive producers Larry Houston, Eric and Julia Lewald, who discussed the show’s creative direction and what’s ahead for Marvel’s iconic mutants.
Season 2 picks up with the X-Men scattered across different points in time, forcing the team to fight their way back to the 1990s while facing the looming threat of Apocalypse. The new season promises bigger stakes, and plenty of fan-favorite mutant appearances as the battle for the future of mutantkind continues. Early reactions from the Tribeca premiere have only added to the excitement surrounding the series’ return.
The wait is almost over for everyone who couldn’t attend the world premiere. X-Men ’97 Season 2 officially begins streaming July 1 on Disney+, with nine new episodes continuing one of Marvel Animation’s most acclaimed series. If the Tribeca debut is any indication, we’re in for another unforgettable adventure when the X-Men return next month!
