From ‘Gen V’ To The X-MEN: Asa Germann Reportedly Lands Role as Angel

Asa Germann appears to be heading from Gen V and Scream 7 into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, Germann is in final talks to play Warren Worthington III, better known as Angel, in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot. Germann was reportedly among the actors considered for Cyclops, a role that ultimately went to Kit Connor, but Marvel was apparently impressed enough to find another major part for him.

The reported casting would add another recognizable name to an already growing ensemble. The cast reportedly includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver is also set to play the villainous Mr. Sinister. Marvel Studios has not commented on Germann’s reported casting.

Angel is one of the original X-Men characters, having debuted in the very first X-Men comic in 1963. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Warren is a wealthy mutant with large feathered wings that give him the ability to fly. His comic-book history eventually took a much darker turn when Apocalypse transformed him into Archangel, replacing his natural wings with deadly metallic ones.

The character has previously appeared in two X-Men movies, with Ben Foster playing Warren in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and Ben Hardy portraying him in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse. However, neither film gave Angel a particularly prominent role, leaving many fans hoping the character would eventually receive a more substantial adaptation. Germann’s reported casting could provide exactly that opportunity.

Directed by Jake Schreier, whose previous Marvel work includes Thunderbolts*, the new untitled X-Men film is currently scheduled for release on May 5, 2028. If Germann’s deal is finalized, Angel could become one of the most intriguing pieces of Marvel’s new mutant lineup, especially if the studio eXplores his transformation into Archangel.
