A look at the recently announced cast for James Mangold’s THE WOLVERINE, starring Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Hiroyuki Sanada (Shingen Yashida), Tao Okamoto (Mariko Yashida), Will Yun Lee (Silver Samurai, Kenuichi Harada), Rila Fukushima (Yukio), Hal Yamanouchi (Yashida) and Brian Tee (Minister of Justice, Norubo Mori).
Hiroyuki Sanada (“Lost,” “The Last Samurai”) plays Shingen Yashida, a Japanese Yakuza crime boss who disgraced his family name by turning his clan into a criminal empire. He’s the father of Wolverine’s love interest, Mariko and will stop at nothing to ensure the destruction of their relationship.
Will Yun Lee (upcoming “Total Recall,” “Elektra”) plays Kenuichi Harada aka the Silver Samurai. Harada is a Japanese mutant with the power to charge almost anything, including his katana, with mutant energy which enables it to slice through any known substance excluding adamantium. He wears a samurai armor suit made of a silver metal.
Tao Okamoto plays Mariko Yashida, the daughter of Shingen. Mariko forms a close relationship with Wolverine despite her father’s disapproval.
Brian Tee (“The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift”) plays corrupt Minister of Justice, Norubo Mori.
