Canadian actor Andre Tricoteux spoke with Matthew Price at NewsOK about his work on DEADPOOL, portraying an new, mo-capped version of the metal-bodied X-Man, Colossus.
“It was a very stunt-heavy role, a lot of action, and a challenging one physically,” he said on filming action-heavy scenes in his bodysuit. “Because anytime you’re working with CG and motion capture, it’s physically demanding.”
He “loves” the popularity of comic book movies and how evolving technology plays a major role in bringing these characters to life. “I’m a big comic book fan, so I love that they’ve had such a great, successful run. I think a lot of the technology and the CG coming along has allowed the stuff to be shot properly. There were so many great stories that were in these comic books that I guess traditionally Hollywood didn’t really pay attention to. And when they started really looking at them, these stories came to light, and I think the audience has followed with them.”
Tricoteux joins a cast, which includes Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Ed Skrein as Ajax, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and T.J. Miller as Weasel. It’s directed by vfx-wizard Tim Miller, who stuck to using the violent and curse-filled screenplay, making it set to earn an expected R-rating.
The film comes to theaters on February 12, 2016.
