According to The Hollywood Reporter, Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, The Bourne Identity) is in final negotiations to direct Channing Tatum in GAMBIT after “several rounds of meetings” with producers and 20th Century Fox, “including one that took place Thursday.”
The X-Men spin-off had to quickly search for a new director after Rupert Wyatt left production last September due to alleged “scheduling conflicts.” Other directors in the mix included Joe Cornish, Shane Black and F. Gary Gray.
Besides Tatum, the only other actor linked to the project is Lea Seydoux (Spectre). When asked by Cinema Blend about the film’s status, she said “For the moment it’s… I have nothing to say!” She confirmed to Allocine that she isn’t officially signed, most likely due to the director shuffle.
The film was originally scheduled for release on October 7, 2016 but with production starting next Spring, that’s expected to change.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE writer and producer Simon Kinberg had a lengthy discussion with Collider about Bryan Singer’s upcoming epic, revealing how his initial perception of film’s character arcs has changed somewhat.
“I think going into it I assumed this would be the culmination in many ways of this little trilogy we were telling for young Erik, Charles, Mystique, and Beast,” he said, “but I think what was surprising over the span of photography and now into post as well is just how resonant the young Jean, Scott, and Storm stories are too.”

Besides the first “X-Men: Apocalypse” trailer that will screen in front of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” this December, Kinberg told Collider that Fox also plans to release the second DEADPOOL trailer in the same month.
“I’ve seen a version of the trailer that’s pretty awesome, that’s close to being ready,” he said. “I think the plan is in December to put out the new trailer. In terms of new footage and material, Ryan’s creating new footage and material every single day, so I’m assuming he’ll do something new on the internet in the next week or so.”

One of the villains in “Deadpool” is Gina Carano, who plays the adrenaline-producing Angel Dust. Carano recently opened up to Screen Rant about her role in the film and the relationship she shares with lead villain, Ajax (Ed Skrein).
“It’s a really beautiful, I think, relationship,” she said. “My character trusts Ajax with everything. She pretty much only really responds to him. He was created a certain way to be the way he is. In our backstory, he kinda created me and showed me everything. And I do the same thing to everyone else.”
