“Cue the music!”
Wade Wilson’s alter-ego is well known for breaking the fourth wall multiple times in his comic book appearances. Deadpool KNOWS he’s in a comic book. But will he know he’s in a live-action 20th Century Fox film starring Ryan Reynolds? Duh! Speaking with Empire magazine, DEADPOOL director Tim Miller mentions that this unique aspect of the character will definitely be explored on film.
“Deadpool breaks the fourth wall,” Miller said. “Wade Wilson never does. Does he know he’s a comic book character in a comic book movie? Does he know that Ryan Reynolds is playing him, and that Ryan Reynolds also played Green Lantern? It’s a big rabbit hole, and we explore it pretty deep.”
In other news, a new international TV spot (via Vidovideo) is now available.
Thanks to Mark Julian and DCMarvelFreshman at CBM for the heads up!
Directed by Tim Miller and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the film stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Ed Skrein as the villainous Ajax, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al and T.J. Miller as Weasel.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, ‘Deadpool’ tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
