Olivia Munn recently admitted to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (via Contact Music) that she wasn’t initially looking forward to the grueling workout schedule for getting in tip-top shape for her role as Psylocke in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. That quickly changed when she started to see the results and gained confidence from her new skills as an expert fighter.
“The beginning of the movie I do look different,” she said on her physique. “If you watch the movie from the beginning to my fight scene, I lost, like, 12 pounds, because when I started I was like, ‘I’m the relateable actress, I can eat whatever…’
“But then I started training for, like, six or seven hours a day – martial arts and sword training – so that I could become as lethal as I could, and I needed to feel as confident as Psylocke as I could. So six or seven hours a day for, like, two months (I trained) and then I lost 12 pounds.”
Munn said she feels “very strong” and that it’s an “awesome feeling” slipping into her body-hugging costume with her new, toned physique.
