Many X-Men fans agree that Rebecca Romijn portrayed the mutant femme fatale Mystique with eXcellent skill. Despite not having much dialogue, Romijn’s look, movements, and overall presence for Raven Darkholme struck a chord with audiences for years to come. Her last full appearance was in 2006’s THE LAST STAND, though she did film a quick cameo with Jennifer Lawrence’s version in 2011’s FIRST CLASS.

With Patrick Stewart’s Professor X becoming the first mutant to arrive in the MCU with DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, many wonder if other original cast members will find themselves back in their respective roles for appearances in future films.

“I don’t know if they would ever want me back,” she told ComicBook.com while promoting the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. “I mean, that was quite a few years back when I played that character, but I would love to, yeah, absolutely. It was a fantastic franchise to be a part of. I’ll love that cast until the day I die. We had a great time together. And yeah, I would absolutely be open to that.”

While it’s likely Marvel Studios will recast all the roles for MCU proper versions, it’s always possible Romijn, even Lawrence, can find themselves appearing as one of Mystique’s many forms in the future. Don’t forget that Kevin Feige worked on the set of X-Men (2000) as a production assistant, then as co-producer for X2, so it wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility for him to bring his old friends back in the mix, even for a cameo.
