Deadline reports that Matthew Chauncey will take over writing duties from Beau DeMayo for S3 of Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97 series. In fact, DeMayo’s scripts for S2, which is currently in production, have also reportedly been revised by the creatives. Chauncey is no stranger to Marvel Studios, having served as a writer for What If? and Ms. Marvel.
DeMayo was taken off the show just before S1 premiered for unknown reasons, which we won’t speculate on. His work and overall vibe were unanimously praised by fans and critics alike, receiving a coveted 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
