X-MEN: FIRST CLASS actress January Jones, who plays the telepathic and diamond-skinned mutant Emma Frost, recently spoke with Los Angeles Times’ Hero Complex about preparing for the film and revealed some great info.
“I read the script and familiarized myself with the character of Emma Frost. It takes place in that time [the 60’s] but it doesn’t feel like a period movie.” says the actress who also plays 60’s character Betty Draper in TV’s Mad Men.
Fans of Emma Frost know that she is notorious for wearing revealing outfits, a thing Jones was very aware of, saying “It’s a lot of very body-conscious stuff. If you look at the comic book, she’s barely dressed. She’s got quite the bod, which is very intimidating. She’s very busty, very voluptuous, so I didn’t want to get rid of any of my curves.”
The actress reveals that the character will indeed display her diamond-skinned gifts which appeared as a second mutation in the comic book series. “I don’t have to do all the crazy prosthetics. “When I morph into my diamond form, it’s all done on computer.”
Frost appears to have a pretty hefty role as Jones says “I’m riding around in helicopters, I’m in a boat one day, I’m in all these fight sequences, we’re all over the English countryside, I feel like I’m a kid playing mutant.”
X-Men: First Class hits theaters June 3, 2011.
Sounds great! I hope they keep Jones as Frost, sounds like she’s emodied the character nicely!
I think she’ll be a perfect Emma Frost. This film will be so cool!
Sounds good. I just hope she doesn’t display cut diamonds like she did in Wolverine.
Same here. Hopefully they differentiate between the two Emma’s.
i am dying to see some video from thid film!!!
I’m glad they chose her over that other actress.
Me too!
alice eve(the other possible emma) would of been a good choice for a more modern emma
but JJ embodies the 1960’s version to a tee
she brings a classiness to the role
