Entertainment Weekly has a great new interview with X-MEN: FIRST CLASS director Matthew Vaughn in which he explains how Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr are introduced in the film and how the changes made are no different from the changes writers make in the comic book series.
“You’re seeing Xavier become a professor. For me, Magneto is the good guy in the film, but he’s a sort of a good bad guy. He literally kicks off the movie, and Xavier goes along on the ride trying to figure out what the hell is going on, and trying to persuade Erik that you don’t have to kill everyone.”
On the historical changes made in regards to the many mutants of “First Class” Vaughn says…
“One thing about the X-Men world is that, if you know your X-Men universe, every writer reinvented the storyline. I did my research, and none of the histories of the characters make any sense. Each writer just totally changed the history to make their plot work. So I can quite safely say that X-Men has a history of reinventing its history for the sake of the plot.”

MAN Matthew Vaughn is an A-hole. I think he is just so full of himself and he thinks his skills are just so great that he can do whatever he wants with this movie and people will ignore and shortfalls.
Well I think part of the reason people like PREQUELS is that they get to see the story that leads up to what they are already familiar with. Like with the Star Wars movies, the reason people wanted to see them was because they knew anakin ends up as Vader and then want to see how. If they changed the prequels to not line up with 4,5,6, I think a whole lot of the appeal would have been lost, right? Obviously this is a more extreme example, but it’s the principle that I’m talking about.
So basically I’m just hoping Vaughn is exaggerating and the movie will fit in better than he is making it sound…
I agree with you xfan6… I hope he too is exaggerating… because sure there are different universes in the comics but that does not mean he should completely change what has already happened in the film’s franchise.
I just need to see a teaser trailer..
Ffan6 and thunderman show a little respect to the other people do not use heavy words on this website please sorry anthony,s author
and is the same if Matt Reinvented the history of X-men the important thing is make the movie in good hands and this men had a good talent so i don,t have a problem with that so continue
I won’t believe it until I see it.
They say that for every comic book movie….
