DEADPOOL continues to dominate during its 2nd weekend at the box office.

During its second weekend of release at the box office, DEADPOOL remained at the number one spot, earning an estimated $55 million from over 3,722 domestic theaters. It bested Sony’s “Risen” ($11.8 mil), A24’s “The Witch” ($8.68 mil) and Focus Features’ “Race” ($7.25 mil), dropping 58.5% from its historic first 3-day weekend haul of $132.2 million; it’s current haul in the USA now stands at $235.39 million.

With $256.5 million coming from foreign markets, the film has garnered an astounding $491.89 million worldwide. It will soon join the coveted list of R-rated films that surpassed $500 million worldwide. That’s pretty crazy considering the film was made for just $58 million and NOT released in 3D; it did have a little extra push from premium IMAX screenings.

The Tim Miller-directed film starring Ryan Reynolds is the highest-grossing X-MEN film ever (domestically) when NOT taking ticket price inflation into consideration, surpassing “X-Men: The Last Stand” ($234.2 mil) and “X-Men: Days of Future Past” ($233.9 mil). If ticket prices were adjusted, it’d actually sit behind the original X-MEN trilogy and “Days of Future Past.” Worldwide, it’s “currently” the second biggest X-MEN film, behind “X-Men: Days of Future Past” ($747 million), which passed the $500 million mark after two weekends in 2014.
