The Wrap scooper Umberto Gonzalez has revealed new details about director James Mangold’s LOGAN – the third and final film in Hugh Jackman’s long-awaited “Wolverine” saga.
SPOILERS BELOW!!!
Some tidbits:
- It takes place in the year 2024.
- The film is dark and violent.
- Logan’s powers are fading.
- Logan drives a futuristic Chrysler 300 limo.
- Professor X is old, not well and has unstable powers.
- Stephen Merchant allegedly plays “Albino mutant Caliban,” who helps Logan take care of Professor X
…it should be noted that Tómas Lemarquis played Caliban in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, so it’ll be interesting to see if this is an older version or an entirely new version of the character. Maybe a misdirection?
Basic Plot:
“In 2024, mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren’t sure why. We find out about a government-type operation called “Transigen” that is turning mutant children into killing machines. Logan ends up mentoring the girl, who has two claws instead of his three.”
That’s basically a direct description of Laura Kinney aka X-23, who is Wolverine’s clone and successor.
The film comes to theaters in just 5 short months on March 3, 2017!

Considering that this came from The Wrap, I’ll be taking it with massive amounts of salt!
The Caliban part seems really weird. Why use him again in this type of role over all other characters at their disposal? We’ll see…
