After doing press for Terminator: Dark Fate with The Playlist, famed DEADPOOL director Tim Miller opened up about his original plans for DEADPOOL 2. Miller left the 20th Century Fox sequel over creative differences with the studio, producers and star Ryan Reynolds; David Leitch later took on directorial efforts.
According to Miller, he originally intended on having “a [comic accurate] Cable who was 6 feet, 7 inches” tall. Josh Brolin, who was cast in the role, measures at 5’10”. Previous rumors suggest that Cable and Domino’s casting appeared to be one of the conflicts during pre-production.
He also believed he “cracked the secret to the Vanessa storyline.” In the comics, Vanessa is a mutant named Copycat who has the ability to morph her body into any other person. Miller said he “fought hard to have that in there,” describing a strong love story between Morena Baccarin’s character and Deadpool.
One thing Miller and the studio did agree on was using FANTASTIC FOUR character The Thing for a fight sequence “throwing down with Juggernaut.” Fans have known since last year of plans to include the character (and possibly his teammates Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman and Human Torch) after artist Alexander Lozano posted concept pieces for the original film. As we all know, this part sadly never made it into Leitch’s film.
