Although Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has gone on record saying the MCU Deadpool will retain his R rating solo films, the popular character (portrayed by Ryan Reynolds) will surely pop up across various PG-13 films for crossovers. Speaking with Inverse to promote his Netflix series ‘Love, Deathe & Robots,’ Tim Miller – who directed the merc’s first outing in 2016 – says he thinks the character can go softer and still be successful with Reynolds in the lead.
“I think Ryan Reynolds’ take on the character and the way he embraces the particular kind of insanity β even if you said he’s not gonna use four-letter words β would still be there,” he said. “He still is that character. You can take the R-rated parts out of it if you wanted and it would still be Deadpool if Ryan was doing it.”
Fans are eagerly awaiting the character’s arrival into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though an official release date has not been given for DEADPOOL 3, he could realistically start showing up in other projects and his own films within the next couple years.
