It appears that James Mangold’s follow up to THE WOLVERINE will be Hugh Jackman’s last. The actor took to instagram to post a photo with the caption “Wolverine…one last time.” The image shows the star wearing one set of claws, with the three claws signifying Jackman’s third solo outing as the iconic mutant.
Insiders say this marks his future exit from the X-Men film franchise.
Details on the film’s plot are unknown, but Patrick Stewart previously revealed that he will reprise his role as Professor Charles Xavier.
DEADPOOL, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and GAMBIT all premiere before WOLV3RINE releases on March 3, 2017, so the potential is there for him appear before his solo finale.

Oh come one… he is in the perfect Age These days. He can at least perform Wolverine until the 2018/2019 big crossover movie with the F4.
Maybe he ment one last solo outing. I can see him joining the X Team from time to time.
Just like Robert Downey Jr. will continue to be part of the Avengers, without doing Iron Man 4
I hope you’re right. All the evidences was showing that he ll be a supporting character in apocalypse. But than cameo and this new came out and ı start thinking that he is playing the chracter one more time in the wolverine sequel not apoc or another x-men
It makes no sense otherwise. They agreed to film XMA and TW2 back to back so he would not have to bulk up again.
Hugh was way too Young when he played WOLVERINE in X1. Now he is the perfect age. They should make two more Wolverine films, then take a pause for 10 years and shot Old Man Logan then, which would be a perfectly fitting end for the character.
i dont get it, last i heard hugh announced he wanted to keep playing wolverine til he dies and now he says this is apparently his last film, hopefully he will just take a break for afew or so years than do at least acouple more, i mean the charator made him a star plus he even said awhile back he felt like he could do at least 10 or 11 more x-men films, i honestly would like to think he wont put the claws down after this next one considering he is the best there is and i dont think i could see anybody else portraying wolverine like him
