According to The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox’s DEADPOOL will be all over Superbowl on February 7th! Besides a (likely, but unconfirmed) 30-second spot, there will be numerous publicity events planned leading up to the big game.
On Friday, Ryan Reynolds will commandeer a food truck at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, handing out chimichangas to lucky visitors. Later that night, “Deadpool” will screen at the IMAX AMC Metreon in downtown San Francisco for press and VIP. On Saturday, a nearby locale will be transformed into “Sister Margaret’s Bar,” which is based off the watering hole in the film. Reynolds, along with co-star T.J. Miller will conduct interviews, while playing darts and serving drinks. Sunday will find “The Merc” taking over social media and Snapchat.
Select cast and crew from X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and Fox’s other genre films are also expected to be in attendance, participating in “major on-the-ground events” which have yet to be revealed. No word yet if Fox bought a TV spot for “Apocalypse.” According to sources, the studio purchased two 30-second slots, which are priced between $4.6 million to $5 million.
The Super Bowl is USA’s most-watched live television event, providing Hollywood ample opportunity to create awareness for their films.
