Mashable is reporting that DEADPOOL 2 producer and star Ryan Reynolds is looking at “John Wick” co-director David Leitch to helm the sequel, after the exit of original director Tim Miller over alleged creative differences.
According to the site’s insiders, Reynolds was “given more creative control on the sequel and that he clashed with Miller over casting, among other issues.”
Though Leitch is reportedly in-talks, he’s one of several directors up for the potential gig, so take this only as a possibility until contracts are actually signed.
No word on who else might be in the running.
Leitch has history with both Reynolds and 20th Century Fox, working as action coordinator for X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE and doing second unit on THE WOLVERINE.
Whoever gets the job will have to move swiftly on pre-production, as the studio hopes to start production early next year for a rumored March 2, 2018 theatrical release.
Thanks Martin for the heads up!
