Josh Brolin cast as CABLE for DEADPOOL sequel and developing X-FORCE spin-off.

Oscar nominated actor Josh Brolin has nabbed the role of Cable for 20th Century Fox’s upcoming DEADPOOL sequel, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Producers and the studio spent months searching for an actor, which included Michael Shannon (Superman Returns), David Harbour (Stranger Things) and rumored contenders Brad Pitt and Russel Crowe.

Brolin’s casting is said to include a a multi-picture deal for four films.

After appearing in the David Leitch-directed Deadpool 2, Cable (and ‘Atlanta’ actress Zazie Beetz’s Domino) are expected to spin off into X-FORCE, which has potential for its own trilogy, if it proves successful.

‘Deadpool’ reportedly begins filming this June in Vancouver for release in 2018. ‘X-Force’ is rumored for 2019.

Cable was co-created by Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld and writer Louise Simonson. In the comics, he’s the future adult son of Cyclops.

Brolin also appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the villainous Thanos.
