Psylocke actress Olivia Munn essentially confirmed her involvement with X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX while promoting her role in “The Lego Ninjago Movie”. Speaking with Collider, she hints at the film being a two-parter:
“I donβt know what Iβm supposed to say. Iβm supposed to be vague,” she said. “Thatβs my answer. Iβm horrible at that. Itβs like a two parter, this movie. Thatβs more than Iβve said, in general. I donβt know why people have to be so secretive.”
Since she said “like,” we wont jump the bandwagon and assume “Dark Phoenix” is literally being split into two parts. The follow up could always continue the story without the usual time jump we’ve seen in the last few X-Men films. Either way, it’d be great to see director/writer Simon Kinberg’s face right now as he’s been ultra secretive about his production. Speaking of Kinberg, Munn describes how working with him and the cast is a “great experience.”
“I love Simon Kinberg. Heβs such a visionary. Weβre all so close. Anytime that youβre working on a project where everyone hangs out and theyβre close, itβs a breeding ground for great content and a great experience. I think Simon is gonna kill it. Heβs gonna do such a fantastic job with it. When I came on, he pitched me to be Psylocke, and I didnβt know him until I worked on that movie, but you see how everyone is friends and they hang out. Itβs really cool!”
She says “working with Simon, as a director” makes things more fun “because everyone just steps up, a little bit more.”
“Dark Phoenix” flies into theaters on November 2, 2018. The inevitable sequel might already have a release date, as 20th Century Fox has Marvel film dates pre-scheduled for November 22, 2019, March 13, 2020, June 26, 2020, October 2, 2020 and March 5, 2021. A source at Universo X-Men claims that production on the follow-up will pick up in 2018 for a 2019 release, so November 22nd seems prime for that!

This makes sense considering Tye stated he, and Iβm sure the other young/newer cast members, signed on for a 3 picture deal. This would clearly mark the end of that.
What will become of the X-Men after this casts’ contracts expire? Will then take a rest until a reboot?
