HeyUGuys caught up with NEW MUTANTS actress Anya Taylor-Joy at the UK red carpet premiere of Thoroughbreds, where she talked about the upcoming horror-styled X-Men spin-off and what fans can expect.
“I think the nicest thing about it is that Josh Boone, our director, he’s just such a fan of the comics and he really loves them so much that he’s really interested in making sure that we do the comics justice for the people that love the characters. We all feel so lucky to be such incredible characters, so while it’s definitely a departure from the X-Men movies, the fans won’t be disappointed. We definitely catch the important bits in there.”
Taylor-Joy plays Illyana Rasputin aka Magik, a mutant sorceress who can teleport across different dimensions and wield magic. In the comics, she’s the younger sister of Colossus, who was portrayed by Daniel Cudmore in the original X-MEN films and is now being voiced by Stefan Kapicic with mo-cap/CGI in the DEADPOOL series.
“New Mutants” arrives in theaters on April “Friday the 13th” 2018.
