The teaser trailer for 20th Century Fox’s THE NEW MUTANTS is here!

Set in the X-Men universe, the horror-themed spinoff focuses on five mutant teenagers who are being held in a secret facility against their will. There, they’ll have to battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past.

Last month, CEO Stacey Snider told Variety that “New Mutants is about these teenagers who are just coming into their powers. It’s like watching mutants go through adolescence and they have no impulse control, so they’re dangerous. The only solution is to put them in a ‘Breakfast Club’ detention/’Cuckoo’s Nest’ institutional setting. It protects the people on the outside, but it’s strange and combustible inside. The genre is like a haunted-house movie with a bunch of hormonal teenagers. We haven’t seen a superhero movie whose genre is more like ‘The Shining’ than ‘we’re teenagers let’s save the world.’”

Director Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) previously described the film as “a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe,” saying “There are no costumes. There are no supervillains. We’re trying to do something very, very different.”

Written by Knate Lee (Kidnap), the film stars Anya Taylor Joy (Split) as Illyana Rasputin aka Magik, Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Rahne Sinclair aka Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) as Sam Guthrie aka Cannonball, Blu Hunt (The Originals) as Dani Moonstar aka Mirage, Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) as Roberto da Costa aka Sunspot and Alice Braga (Queen of the South) as Dr. Cecilia Reyes.

“The New Mutants” arrives in theaters on April 13, 2018.
