The official social media accounts for THE NEW MUTANTS have updated with a brief visual focusing on Charlie Heaton’s Sam Guthrie aka Cannonball. “They surround you,” says the post, showing him standing in an underground mine.
In the comics, Sam is a Kentuckian who attempts to help out his family by working in the coal mine with his father and a crew. One day, he finds himself trapped in a collapsing mine shaft, where he unconsciously activates his mutant abilities and uses it to save himself and others from the rubble.
