DARK PHOENIX now earning below a million at USA box office, cementing it as lowest-earning X-Men film.

DARK PHOENIX pulled in $442,744 from 426 domestic theaters in its 5th weekend landing at #17 on the box office chart. That’s a -75.7% drop from last weekend. On Monday (July 8) it earned $59,900 and on Tuesday it rose to $81,752. It’s current total in the USA now stands at $64.8 million.

With its theater count steadily dropping each week, the final X-Men from 20th Century Fox will easily end up as the worst performing entry in the series. For reference, the previously lowest-ranking X-related film The Wolverine brought it $132.5 million domestic and $414.8 million worldwide. The lowest-performing mainline film X-Men: First Class earned $146.4 million domestic and $353.6 million worldwide.

Internationally, Dark Phoenix is around $184.5 million thus far, bringing its worldwide total to $249.3 million.

The Simon Kinberg-directed magnum opus reportedly had a production budget of close to $200 million, with an additional promotional budget north of $100 million.

Despite all the negativity on a grand scale, there’s a large portion of fans and audience members (including myself) who thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the film.
