THE NEW MUTANTS takeover Comic Con @ Home with cast panel, new trailer and opening scene of film.

X-Men fans were not let down today, as 20th Century Studios’ THE NEW MUTANTS gave plenty of goodies from the Josh Boone film during today’s Comic Con @ Home panel. Stars Anya Taylor-Joy (Magik), Charlie Heaton (Cannonball), Blu Hunt (Mirage), Henry Zaga (Sunspot), Maisie Williams (Wolfsbane) and Alice Braga (Dr. Cecilia Reyes) were on-hand to talk about their experiences working the long-delayed film.

During the 30-minute discussion – which you can watch below – various new clips were shown, including the film’s frightening opening sequence (24:10 minute mark) followed by a brand-spanking new trailer (27:03 minute mark)!

“What I like, after seeing the movie and going through the process of making it, it is a superhero film that’s fun,” said Heaton, “but there are these real inner conflicts to go through as a character.”

“In the world of superheroes, it is lovely to see these two fragile women find comfort in each other,” said Williams about Rahne’s relationship with Dani (Hunt). “I think it’s important for people to see these types of relationships.”

There are two new contests which fans can participate in. The first, a chance to win exclusive posters using the hashtags #NewMutantsComicConAtHome and #NewMutantsPosterSweepstakes. The second, a private advance screening in your hometown using the hashtags #NewMutantsComicConAtHome and #NewMutantsScreeningSweepstakes.

The New Mutants is *still* planned to premiere in theaters on August 28.
