X-MEN: APOCALYPSE has arrived in Japan, bringing in around $3.1 million from 655 theater screens during the August 13-14 weekend. This has bumped up the film’s foreign total to about $384.2 million.
The film has already ended its major theatrical run in the United States with $155.4 million, though a bit more money is being made as it continues to play in discount theaters leading up to the digital release on September 9th and Blu-ray/DVD release on October 4th.
Its worldwide total now stands at $539.7 million, about $200 million less than what DAYS OF FUTURE PAST made in 2014.
Earlier this week, director Bryan Singer congratulated/thanked Japan for the “great opening.”
