Longtime X-MEN director and producer Bryan Singer appeared on-stage at the Edinburgh Television Festival during a “Gamechangers” session and briefly talked about LEGION, FX’s upcoming X-Men Universe series from creator Noah Hawley (Fargo).
Though Hawley previously said the series is mostly separate from the X-Men films, Singer gave a more interesting take, saying that it’s “part of the X-Men universe, but when you watched it, you wouldn’t have to label it, it could exist completely on its own.” Threads in the show (and Fox’s developing untitled series) may ultimately find there way onto the big screen, as Singer says it “will relate to future X-Men movies.” He also says it will have a “really ambitious and fun and very unique storyline.”
The show will follow David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and visions might be real.
