Fox’s upcoming Marvel TV drama GIFTED, which is based in the X-Men universe has cast Amy Acker (Person of Interest, Angel) as its female lead, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
She will play Kate Stewart, “a woman who is struggling with her separation from her husband, Reed (Stephen Moyer) and her increasingly challenging teenage children. When her family situation takes a dark turn, she finds that she’s stronger than she thinks.”
Also joining the cast are Emma Dumont (Aquarius, Pretty Little Liars) as Lorna Dane aka Polaris, a major character comic book fans know as Magneto’s daughter, who can also manipulate magnetism. She’s described as a “strong-willed, brave and loyal mutant.”
Percy Hynes White (Night at the Museum) will portray Andy, a “sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home.”
The action-adventure pilot, directed by X-Men film veteran Bryan Singer, focuses on two ordinary parents (Moyer, Acker) who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
Additional cast includes Natalie Alyn Lind as Lauren, Blair Redford as Sam , Jamie Chung as Clarice Ferguson aka Blink and Sean Teale as Marcos Diaz aka Eclipse.
Matt Nix (Burn Notice) serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer, alongside Singer, longtime X-Men film producers Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg and Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. 20th Century Fox Television will produce with Marvel.
Filming on the pilot is expected to begin this month.
