NEW MUTANTS star Charlie Heaton, who plays Kentuckian Sam Guthrie aka Cannonball, posted an instagram showing himself and his castmates on their way to the first day of shooting Josh Boone’s upcoming horror-themed X-Men spin-off.

“Hello, so it’s 5:41 in the morning and we’re in Boston, MA and we’re just about to start our first day of New Mutants,” he says with a smile, while Blu Hunt (Dani Moonstar), Henry Zaga (Sunspot), Anya Taylor-Joy (Magik) and Maisie Williams (Wolfsbane) site in the back looking calm, collected and a bit tired.

The film’s plot involve the group being held in a secret facility against their will, where they must battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past. They aren’t out to save the world — they’re just trying to save themselves.

“New Mutants” comes to theaters on April 13, 2018.
