James McAvoy excited by what changes Simon Kinberg will bring as director of X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX.

Professor Xavier actor James McAvoy has been doing promo rounds for “Atomic Blonde” and was asked by GQ about what he’s looking forward to with filming X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX under first-time director Simon Kinberg.

The actor seems excited by Kinberg, noting how he’ll bring something different to the X-Men film franchise.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Simon [Kinberg],” he said. “Simon and Hutch [Parker] are just of the best producers I’ve ever worked with. He’s a great writer, Simon, and they’ve both had a bit of input in the last few movies, and I’m really excited to see them do what they’re gonna do now.

“Now that Bryan [Singer’s] gone, the two of them are gonna have some kind of different ideas. So I’m just really excited to see what they’re gonna do. As a colleague who loves working with [Simon], and also as a friend, I’m just so excited to see what he’s going to be like as a director.”

Well said, James, well said.

“Dark Phoenix” is currently filming in Montreal and continues through October for a November 2, 2018 theatrical release.

Thanks @JenLawFilms for the heads up!
