Jennifer Lawrence appears to be dedicated to the role of Mystique. Despite stating that she was very unsure of returning to the role during promo tours for 2016’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE (her contract was up), she decided to come back for next year’s X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX. While speaking with Digital Spy to promote her upcoming “mother!” film, Lawrence shared why she ultimately signed on for the next chapter in the mainline X-Men film universe.
“I felt like I owed it to the fans, and I owed it to the character to follow her journey, to be fair to the movies, and not be like, ‘I don’t want to do another X-Men!’ And then I just never show up and everyone’s very confused about the Mystique they’ve been following for the last three films.”
It’s unknown what Lawrence will be doing in this film, as her filming time appeared to be much shorter than the likes of James McAvoy, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Perhaps the bulk of her scenes will be with Michael Fassbender and Evan Peters, who appeared to have shorter filming schedules as well? Only time will tell!
“Dark Phoenix” comes to theaters on November 2, 2018.

I do hope Evan Peters has a much longer scene than the last two.
