Celebrating X-Men Films And Beyond

Alexandra Shipp “Not Interested” In Bringing Her Storm To The MCU

Alexandra Shipp told ET Online last month that she’s “not interested” in returning to the role of Storm for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor portrayed the weather-manipulating mutant in two films, X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, including a cameo in Deadpool 2.

“I am not interested,” she said. “The things is, what I love about the career that I’ve been able to form is that I can play many different things. At this point, I feel like I’ve done what I needed to do with Storm, and I think that there are other women who can take on that role and really kill it. I support that, but for me, I just feel like I’m at a different place in my life.

“I’ve played a superhero, I’ve played a serial killer, I’ve played a hot lesbian getting married to a beautiful woman, I’ve played different roles,” she continued. “That’s why I think that I love film so much. I get to change my mask, and I get to change what I do, and when I’ve done it, I’ve done it.”

Fans won’t have to wait long to see another Storm grace the big screen again, as Halle Berry is rumored to make her return to the role in Deadpool 3 and potentially Avengers: Secret Wars. The assumption is that X-Men will be (mostly) rebooted in Marvel Studios’ Phase 7.
