Fox gives green light for X-MEN inspired television show pilot.

Deadline reports that Fox has made a pilot order for Matt Nix’s (Burn Notice) developing X-Men related show, which is not directly connected to the films. The series will be co-produced by 20th Century Fox television and Marvel Television.

The project, still untitled, plans to follow two parents who discover that their teenage kids are mutants. On the run from a hostile government, they take refuge with an underground-based mutant community (possibly Morlocks?), who helps them in their extraordinary journey.

According to the site, “early versions of the script by Nix had been received enthusiastically at Fox and the producing studios, with a formal pilot green light contingent upon delivery of the final draft. Exploratory casting already had begun, with the process expected to ramp up now that there is an official pilot order.”

Nix is executive producing along with film producers Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg, along with Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.

Those same producers also created LEGION, another X-Men inspired show which will air on sister network FX.
